Student Advisor Application for 2018-2020

The Board of Directors will make this two-year appointment for a term beginning with the 2018 International Convention and ending at the 2020 Convention.

Position Responsibilities

Student Advisors provide the student voice to the Board of Directors and serve as full voting members of the Board. They also chair the important Student Leadership Committee. Student Advisors should be student members of active chapters. A two year commitment (2018-2020) is preferred, but not required. Student Advisors must be willing advocates for the needs and concerns of the student members of Sigma Tau Delta. Together, the two Student Advisors work to promote the goals of the Society among its members. Complete position duties are listed on the Society's website.

Candidates for the Student Advisor position will be interviewed and appointed by the Board of Directors. Interviews will be conducted during the spring convention in Cincinnati. Individuals will assume their offices at the 2018 International Convention.

Component 1: Student Applicant's Material

  • Send an email from the student's email addressed to In the subject line, type Student Advisor Position.
  • Attach the following three (3) items in Word (doc or docx) or in PDF, labeled  to reflect the contents of each attachment:
    1. Letter of Intent
      a letter of intent to run for office, with a statement of qualifications
    2. Chapter Involvement
      a summary of Sigma Tau Delta chapter involvement
    3. Curriculum Vitae
      a one-page Curriculum Vitae
  • Attach a recent headshot photograph (in jpeg format), labeled Photo.

Component 2: Faculty Sponsor Recommendation Letter

  • The Faculty Sponsor the recommendation letter in an email to
  • In the subject line, type Applicant's Last Name Recommendation Letter
    example: Smith Recommendation Letter.
  • Attach the recommendation letter as a Word (doc or docx) or in PDF.
