Northern Illinois University Law Professor to Present at the 2005 NAACP Annual Convention

DeKalb, IL—Northern Illinois University Law Professor Leona Green will be among a select group of faculty, practitioners, and judges presenting at the 96th Annual Convention of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).  The 2005 NAACP Convention will be held at the Greater Milwaukee Convention Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, July 9-14, 2005.

As part of a distinguished group of panelists, Professor Green will participate on the Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Panel, "Employment Discrimination Law and Practice: From Investigation to Trial".  Professor Green will discuss the scope of the most recent United States Supreme Court ruling in Smith v. City of Jackson, Miss., in which the court recognized the disparate impact theory as a viable claim for proving age discrimination cases under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA).

As an Associate Professor of Law at NIU, Green teaches state and local government, public sector labor law, alternative dispute resolution, mediation theory and practice, and employment discrimination.  She has been a member of the NIU Law Faculty since 1992.  She received her law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
