NIU College of Law Student Ellen Craker
Receives Lowell-Jacobson Scholarship

DeKalb, Ill. – Ellen Craker, a third-year student at Northern Illinois University College of Law, received the $2,500 Lowell-Jacobson Scholarship from the American Counsel Association (ACA). The ACA, an organization of U.S. and International lawyers who come from independent law firms, grants only two Lowell-Jacobson Scholarships each year. Criteria for the award include high scholastic aptitude and financial need.
Craker, of Rochelle, Ill., is an exceptional student who currently ranks among the top 15 percent of her class. She maintains her class position while working as a tutor in the Academic Support Program in the College of Law. In addition to her tutoring responsibilities, Craker remains involved in many extracurricular activities. She is an associate editor for the NIU Law Review, an active member of the Public Interest Law Society, and a key member of the law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta.
Craker intends to pursue a career in public interest law when she graduates from the NIU College of Law in May 2009.
