MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

It is hard to believe that my first year as Dean of the College of Law is almost over!  The year has been thrilling in so many respects.  The opportunities I have had meeting and developing relationships with you-- the alumni and friends of NIU-- have been some of the most enjoyable highlights. We have had such an eventful year: from the kickoff reception at the Fioretti and Lower firm in September, to the NIjUdicata 5k Run/Walk held the last weekend in April, and many miles in between.

LAW ALUMNI HONORED AT NIU AWARDS DINNER

Cherilyn Murer ('78) and Vincent Cornelius ('89) were recently honored at the 2010 NIU Alumni Association Awards Dinner. Cherilyn received the Distinguished Alumni Award, the Association’s most prestigious award, in recognition of her considerable public contributions and professional achievements. Vincent was the recipient of the 2010 Outstanding Alumni Award for the College of Law in recognition of his significant professional accomplishments and civic involvement. The honorees were presented with their awards on April 29 in DeKalb.

NIU LAW GOLF OUTING
June 11, 2010

HELP US CLOSE THE COURSE at the 6th annual NIU Law Golf Outing on Friday, June 11 at River Heights Golf Course in DeKalb. We need at least 100 golfers in order to make this a private event for alumni and friends. The outing includes 18 holes+cart, lunch (grilled burgers & brats), dinner (fajita buffet), all day open bar, and prizes. If you are not able to attend, please consider being a sponsor (hole, lunch, dinner, or beverage). Send in your registration form and/or sponsorship form today.

NIU Law Hosts
First Annual Race NIjUdicata: 5K Run/Walk & BBQ

On Saturday, April 24, there were 144 participants who weathered the storm and helped to make our first annual Race NIjUdicata a huge success. The event raised over $5,500 with the support of participants, sponsors, and donors. The top runner was our own Professor Robert Jones (17:12); top male alumnus was Andy Lothson ('08, 20:57); and top female alumna was Heather Johnson ('01, 28:00). 2010 Reunion Committee Members Sought

The Classes of 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995 and 2000 will celebrate with their class reunions on October 16, 2010 at NIU Law in DeKalb. Volunteers are needed to provide input and contact fellow classmates.
