Biography

Benjamin Carlson joined the NIU Law faculty as an assistant professor in March 2010.  He also serves as an instructional services and reference librarian in the David C. Shapiro Memorial Law Library.  Previously, Professor Carlson was an access services and reference assistant at the Drexel University Earle Mack School of Law Library.  In addition, he practiced as a contract attorney for the firm of Schiffrin, Barroway, Topaz & Kessler in Radnor, Pennsylvania.  And Professor Carlson also worked as a litigation associate for the firm of Funk & Bolton in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Professor Carlson is a member of the Greater Philadelphia Law Library Association as well as the American Association of Law Libraries.  He received his B.A. degree in Philosophy & Literature from Saint John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland in 1998, and has an M.A. degree in Library and Information Sciences from Drexel University.  Professor Carlson received his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame, where he also worked as a research assistant for Professor A.J. Bellia, in 2005.
