Announcements:

+  Green and purple remote parking area to move from Lot C2 at the Convocation Center to Lot C3 at the Convocation Center beginning July 1, 2012.

Beginning July 1, 2012, remote parking permit holders (green and purple permits) will now park in a new green and purple designated portion of Lot C3 at the NIU Convocation Center.  This change should make use of the Huskie Bus Line more convenient for our remote parking permit holders.  If you have any questions about this change or would like to inquire about obtaining a purple or green remote parking permit, please contact Campus Parking Services at 815-753-1045 or parking@niu.eduUpdated:  2/6/12

+  Borrow-a-Bike Program:  Parking Services & ESHRD launch bicycle safety course.

Beginning January of 2012, Parking Services will require the successful completion of an online bicycle safety course before  you are able to borrow a bicycle from us.  The online safety course is offered via Blackboard, and is complete with safety videos, articles, and a quiz which must be completed with a score of 100%.

Once you successfully complete the safety course, you then must contact Campus Parking Services to request a bike (note - successful completion of the safety course does not guarantee availability of a bicycle.  As always, bike rentals are available on a first come, first served basis).  Your safety is of upmost priority to us and we are pleased to offer this course in conjunction with our Borrow-a-Bike program.

Parking Services announces new visitor parking options near NIU residence halls!

We are pleased to announce that you will no longer need to purchase a resident visitor permit for your visitors as long as they arrive at 4pm or after on a Friday and they park in orange lots P, O, or W.  Please note that NIU parking permits will still be required in those lots in reserved spaces and handicapped spaces.  We hope this change proves to be positive for our student residents and their guests.  Please note that valid parking permits will be required in those lots again every Monday morning by 7am.  If you have any questions, please contact us at 815-753-1045 or parking@niu.edu Updated: 12/2/11

Remote parking is now available for faculty and staff!

Faculty and staff are now eligible to purchase a purple remote parking permit at an annual rate of $40.  The remote parking lot is located in Lot C2 at the Convocation Center.  The Huskie Bus line has created stops at Lot C2 on a few bus routes.  Please contact Campus Parking Services or visit the Huskie Bus Line website to learn more about bus routes and stops.  Faculty and staff do not have to pay to ride the Huskie Bus using the routes that stop at Lot C2.  As always, students also have the option of utilizing remote parking by purchasing a green remote parking permit at an annual cost of $40.

+  Please note that parking regulations are enforced even when classes are not in session.  Some parking regulations are enforced when the University is closed (including reserved spaces, handicapped spaces, 15 minute spaces, and "at all times" lots).  Any specific questions about enforcement over breaks please contact Campus Parking Services
