Convention Update

The Sigma Tau Delta 2013 International Convention will be held March 20 - 23 at the Portland Hilton and Executive Tower, Portland, OR.

Paper and Panel Submissions
Nearly 800 paper and panel submissions were received. Submissions are being read and evaluated by Convention Chair Gloria Hochstein, Co-Chair Sid Watson, and a select group of judges. Notification will be sent by January 7, 2013, via email, to the persons selected to present at the convention.

Early Registration Opens January 4
Everyone attending the convention, including presenters and panelists, must register. Those registering by February 5 will receive an early registration discount. Those doing so after the early registration deadline will pay the full fee. See Convention Registration for details.

2013 Summer Internships

January 31 is the application deadline for two paid summer internship opportunities co-sponsored by Sigma Tau Delta:

The Better World Books six-week paid summer internship is offered to members who have or will be participating in a Better World Books Campus Book Drive. Beginning in early June 2013, the recipient will work 30 hours per week, earning $10 per hour, in Alpharetta, Georgia, in the Atlanta metro area. Sigma Tau Delta will provide the recipient an additional $1,500 stipend to assist with travel and housing expenses. The recipient will be announced at the annual convention.

The Penguin Group (USA) ten-week paid summer internship is offered to current undergraduate Sigma Tau Delta members. The internship takes place in New York, NY, with exact dates to be determined by agreement between the recipient and Penguin Group (USA). The recipient will work 28 hours per week, earning $7.25 per hour. Sigma Tau Delta will provide the recipient an additional $1,500 stipend to assist with travel and housing expenses.

Central Office Holiday Closure

The Central Office will be closed for winter break December 22, 2012, through January 1, 2013.

Write Away! will continue to be active during this time; however, email and phone support will not be available, and membership certificates and merchandise will not be processed until after the break.

The Central Office will re-open Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
