This year's convention was an overwhelming success, with 919 registrants. In addition to keynote sessions by speakers Ursula K. Le Guin, Timothy Egan, and Anne Fadiman, there were 546 papers presented and 22 roundtables. Over $10,000 was awarded in prizes for works presented at the convention.

2014 Convention and Common Reader
Mark your calendars for the 2014 International Convention, "River Current," February 26 - March 1, at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront, Savannah, GA. The selected 2014 Common Reader is We The Animals, by Justin Torres.

Scholarship and Award Winners

Scholarships and awards totaling over $60,000 were announced at the convention. Visit Scholarship and Award Winners for a list of this year's recipients.

Journal Submissions and Current Issues

Online Journal Submissions Open April 2 - May 13
All currently-enrolled undergraduate and graduate members of active Sigma Tau Delta chapters are invited to submit their work to The Sigma Tau Delta Review and The Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle. Chapter Sponsors, faculty members, alumni (including members of the Alumni Epsilon Chapter), and honorary members, are not eligible to submit. Works selected for publication are also eligible for overall awards and monetary prizes.

The Sigma Tau Delta Review is our annual journal of critical writing, publishing critical essays on literature, essays on rhetoric and composition, and essays devoted to pedagogical matters.

The Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle is our annual journal of creative writing, poetry, prose, fiction, and creative non-fiction.

View complete guidelines for online journal submissions.

The latest issues of The Sigma Tau Delta Review and The Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle will be mailed to Lead Chapter Sponsors in April. Current and past issues are also available online.

Chapter Annual Report

New this year: Respond early for two chances to win $100!

A link to the 2012-2013 Chapter Annual Report/Survey will be emailed to Lead Chapter Sponsors later this month. The deadline to reply is June 30, but all participating chapters that respond early will be entered into two drawings for $100 each - one on May 31 and one on July 1.

As with last year's survey, the 2013 survey is multiple-choice, quick and easy, and a great source of ideas. (Outstanding Chapter Award applicants are required to submit a copy of their Chapter Annual Report as a synopsis of the previous year's activities.) Survey results will be posted on the Society's website this fall.

Chapter Activity Photo Contest

Deadline: Friday, April 19

Members are invited to submit their most interesting candid pictures of recent chapter activities to the Chapter Activity Photo Contest. Share your shining faces with us and your chapter could win a $75 gift certificate for Sigma Tau Delta merchandise and a featured spot on our website.
