Northern Illinois University's main campus is located in DeKalb (population 45,750), just 65 miles west of downtown Chicago and 45 miles southeast of Rockford. The campus consists of 64 major buildings located on more than 750 acres.
The Office of Admissions is open year-round (excluding university holidays/closures) for individual walk-in visits with admissions representatives. Open House days are held four times each year.
