Dolly Parton's Imagination Library: Marketing Internship
Description
Work with Dolly Parton’s nonprofit, The Dollywood Foundation (DWF), to assist in planning, writing, and editing promotional and informational copy for marketing initiatives supporting branding, marketing, and advertising. The spring internship is remote and runs from February 1 through May 31, 2022.
This position provides an opportunity to immerse yourself in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library brand and gain understanding of the nonprofit sector in terms of branding and marketing. The position sits on the Marketing Team and reports to the Director of Marketing and Development.
Detailed Responsibilities
Join our great team! This is not your average internship; you will be spearheading various projects and will be able to request assignments to expand your knowledge base. Wonderful opportunity for anyone interested in the field of marketing.
- Handle several concurrent marketing projects with timely deliverables.
- Assist in writing clear, informative, and engaging copy to fulfill internal marketing, content and promotional needs.
- Research, write, and/or proofread copy for various platforms including: dpil.com, blog posts, newsletters, social media, marketing emails, digital ads, other marketing and content-related projects as needed.
- Work effectively as a member of the Foundation team, completing tasks as required whether alone or in close collaboration with others.
- Contribute innovative ideas to grow awareness of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
- Duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned at any time based on the Foundation’s needs.
Note: A Confidential Agreement will be required.

- Strong writing skills
- Detail oriented
- Excellent multitasking and organizational abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner
- Ability to work in close collaboration with others, remotely
- Comfortable approaching stakeholders, asking questions, and quickly gathering accurate responses
- Sophisticated understanding of grammar and style combined with the ability to adapt to the correct voice for the job.
- Always putting the Foundation’s customers first (affiliates, parents, internal team, outside partners) and committed to getting the right message to the right person, at the right time.
- Interest in childhood literacy, inspiring children to fall in love with reading and books!
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
Candidate Membership Eligibility
Active Sigma Tau Delta undergraduate and graduate student members in good standing during the application period and members of chapters located within the 50 United States are eligible to apply. Members who have or will be graduating during the 2021 fall semester are also eligible to apply.
Time Commitment and Stipends
The Internship will be remote. Hours will be flexible and work around finals and school schedule. On average, the intern should expect to work ten hours per week.
In return, the intern will receive the following stipends:
The Dollywood Foundation will award the intern a $750 per month stipend.
An additional $800 stipend will be awarded by Sigma Tau Delta and distributed according to the following schedule:
- February 28 - $200
- March 31 - $200
- April 30 - $200
- May 31 - $200

Review the Imagination Library website. Craft three individual sample Imagination Library social media posts.
One (1) Twitter post with image;
One (1) Facebook post with image; and
One (1) Instagram post with image.
Combine and upload the three samples as one PDF document.
Review Process
Applications will be submitted through AwardSpring, and vetted for membership before being sent to The Dollywood Foundation for their review and selection.
Members of The Dollywood Foundation Leadership Team will review and interview the candidates who make it to the final round.
Blog Requirement
Following the internship, the internship recipient is required to submit an article (400-600 words) for WordybyNature, the official Society blog, sharing such things as how the internship contributed to their professional growth or field of study; its impact on their future career plans; and the importance of the funding to the internship experience.
