Board of Directors: 2020 Elections

Officer and Regent applicants, at the time of election, must be a Faculty Advisor of an active Sigma Tau Delta chapter. Regent applicants must be located within the region they seek to represent.

Candidates for the Vice President/President-Elect and the Secretary/Treasurer positions will have the opportunity to make a brief presentation to the voting constituents at the Business Meeting. Candidates for the Regent positions will have the opportunity to make brief presentations at their Regional Caucuses prior to the election.

Vice President/President-Elect

The VP/President-Elect serves a two-year term, followed by a two-year term as President, and a subsequent two-year term as Immediate Past President.

Position duties include promoting the development of the Society by attending and actively participating in Board meetings, serving on committees, presiding in the absence of the President, and assuming other duties as requested by the President.

Secretary/Treasurer

The Secretary/Treasurer serves a four-year term and may be re-elected. This position is not subject to term limits.

Position duties include primary responsibility for accurate minutes of the Board meetings and the financial policy of the Society.  

Regent

Regents serve a four-year term and may be re-elected to a second four-year term. There is one Regent for each of the Society's six Regions: Eastern, Far Western, High Plains, Midwestern, Southern, and Southwestern.

Position duties include promoting the development and activities of the Society within their specific regions. As members of the Board of Directors, Regents serve on standing and ad hoc committees, act as liaisons between the chapters of their regions and the Central Office, and work with their Student Representative (SR) and Associate Student Representative (ASR) to encourage chapter development and activities.

Student Advisor

Student Advisor applicants must be Sigma Tau Delta members at a school with an active chapter and must plan on attending a school with an active chapter through the end of their elected two-year term.
