Spring 2024 Internship
Sigma Tau Delta is partnering with the W. W. Norton college division to offer Sigma Tau Delta students the opportunity to gain experience in college/university publishing through a 12-week internship program. Internships provide valuable hands-on experience with the day-to-day work that brings books into existence, as well as opportunities to network with employees at the company and with fellow interns who frequently go on to become colleagues in the field.
- Interns at W. W. Norton are paid $15 per hour and work a maximum of 20 hours weekly between February 5 and April 24, 2024.
- Specific work hours are flexible, but interns are expected to work three or four days per week. All interns must be able to work during regular business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST).
- W. W. Norton candidates will be given priority consideration for an interview for the editorial department of the W. W. Norton College Division.
- Interns must be eligible to work in the United States. They are required to reside in the United States during their internship.
Priority Candidates
Sigma Tau Delta has the opportunity to submit up to three priority candidates. The priority candidates will receive an interview with W. W. Norton hiring staff.
To apply for the priority application, eligible student members must complete the Sigma Tau Delta W. W. Norton priority AwardSpring application, due November 6, 11:59 p.m. CST.
Sigma Tau Delta will forward application materials for our final selected priority candidates to W. W. Norton. While not required for priority consideration, students may also apply directly to W. W. Norton through the posting link on their website.
Eligibility
- Priority candidates are active chapter student members of Sigma Tau Delta who are at the time of application
- enrolled as either undergraduate or graduate students in the fall 2023 semester;
- a current sophomore, junior, or senior; or
- a student in a graduate program.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Candidates must reside in the United States during their internship.
- The position may be in person or remote, but students from Alaska, South Dakota, and West Virginia are not eligible to work remotely in New York State.

Evaluation and Selection
Sigma Tau Delta staff will verify active chapter members who are current undergraduate or graduate students. The selection committee will evaluate the priority applications to select the priority candidates. Selections will be announced December 11, 2023.
Submission Instructions
To be considered for a priority candidate position students must complete the Sigma Tau Delta priority application by November 6 at 11:59 p.m. CST.

Interview Process
W. W. Norton staff will contact the four priority candidates for interviews. Applicants who are not selected for Sigma Tau Delta priority consideration may still apply directly through W. W. Norton. The final internship offers will be made by W. W. Norton.
Stipend Award and Blog Requirement
Sigma Tau Delta priority members who receive a 2024 spring internship with W. W. Norton will receive a stipend from Sigma Tau Delta.
A follow-up blog is required from Sigma Tau Delta members who are selected as W. W. Norton interns. The blog is an article (400-600 words) for WORDYbyNature, the official Society blog, sharing such things as how the internship contributed to their professional growth or field of study; its impact on their future career plans; and the importance of the funding to the internship experience.
